Mira Costa Captures 2nd in Ann Kang Invitational Tournament

Mira Costa Varsity Girls Volleyball battled a competitive slate of teams at the Ann King Invitational Tournament at ‘Iolani School in Honolulu August 12-14 to claim a second place finish, beating local fan favorite and athletic powerhouse Punahou School in the semifinals. This was Costa’s first tournament and competitive play since 2019 with an all new Varsity squad. During pool play on August 12 and 13, Mira Costa went 2-2 against teams from Honolulu, beating Hawaii Baptist Academy and Maryknoll School and falling to ’Iolani School and Punahou School. On Saturday, August 14, Mira Costa beat Boswell High School of Fort Worth, Texas (25-18, 25-17, 23-25, 25-21) in the first round of play and upset Punahou School (25-22, 26-24, 23-25, 16-25, 15-11) in the semi-finals. Mira Costa fell to Village Christian of Sun Valley, CA in the final (25-16, 25-23, 18-25, 25-15). Senior Ellie Geoghegan (Libero) and Junior Drew Wright (OH) earned All-Tournament honors.
