The night began and ended in euphoric celebration. Costa’s Frosh/Soph and JV teams set the stage by handily sweeping cross-town rivals Redondo Union in three sets. Afterward, Costa’s eight graduating seniors were honored in a heartwarming celebration with their families and teammates that was hosted by the incomparable AVP and Lakers announcer Chris McGee. Costa also honored Redondo’s graduating seniors by presenting them with a rose. McGee also paid homage to Mira Costa alum, Olympian and beach volleyball legend Holly McPeak as Costa Volleyball presented her with her jersey. McPeak inspired the audience by sharing the three D’s that guided her competitive journey: Dedication, Determination and Domination. Following a gorgeous performance of the national anthem by Mira Costa Senior and Violinist Xavier Dargan, Mira Costa and Redondo’s Varsity squads took the court for the long anticipated battle. Mira Costa’s Varsity team swept Redondo in three sets thereby establishing an undefeated Bay League record to date. Costa Volleyball’s commitment to Dedication, Determination and Domination continues.
