Mira Costa are once again the CHAMPIONS of the 39th Annual Ann Kang Invitational Tournament hosted by ‘Iolani School in Honolulu! This prestigious 3-day tournament included 16 powerhouse volleyball programs from both sides of the Pacific. It had been six years since Costa had last won the tournament in 2016. Follow this link to read a great LA Times article about the team’s stellar tourney performance: https://www.latimes.com/sports/highschool/story/2022-08-14/girls-volleyball-mira-costa-hawaii-championship …and here’s another write-up by the Daily Breeze: https://www.dailybreeze.com/2022/08/15/mira-costa-girls-volleyball-wins-ann-kang-invitational-to-start-season/

Costa dropped only one match in pool play in a nail-biter vs. Sierra Canyon, with the third set (which usually plays to 15 points) advancing all the way to 23-25. Despite the loss, Costa continued to the Semi-Finals, defeating local team and tournament host ‘Iolani School, and giving Costa another shot at Sierra Canyon in the Finals. This time, Costa swiftly defeated Sierra Canyon in two sets.

Congratulations to all of the players, as well as junior setter Charlie Fuerbringer who was named All-Tournament MVP, and seniors Tanon Rosenthal (Opp) and Drew Wright (OH) who were named to the All-Tournament Team.
